WHAT IS CACAO?
In the past few years the holy bean has emerged, and is fast becoming known for its medical benefits as a raw food but is lesser known for its other use, that of a spiritual and healing facilitator. Cacahuaquahuit (Cacao) is the raw and naturally fermented, unheated form of chocolate used for sacred and medicinal purposes for thousands of years across Central and South America. Its active ingredient 'Theobromine' is translated as 'Food of the God' and regarded as a plant medicine because of its power to facilitate spiritual openings, and especially its ability to open the heart.
WHAT IS KRIYA YOGA?
Kriya Yoga is uses the body and the breath to create shifts in the physical and energetic bodies. Each kriya has a specific purpose, whether it be to help you overcome certain psychological tendencies, to empower you or to improve your physical health. Kriya Yoga does not require you to have high level of flexibility and is suitable for all levels.
WHY WE USE THEM TOGETHER
Cacao and kriya yoga work in harmony to remove blockages, shift energies and rebalance the physical and energetic bodies. Kriya yoga requires us to participate in the process, consciously and physically, whilst cacao subtly works on deep, unconscious levels without resistance and interference from our mind
ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
LINDA DE BARRA:
"My mission is to highlight the interdependent relationship between humankind, nature, spirit and all forms of life, building a web of like-minded people to inspire conscious change starting from within.
My spiritual activation began after a serious road accident in
India. During my healing process many truths were revealed to me, my quest for alternative therapies was born and my Shamanic journey began.
I have been working shamanically with teacher plants and holding private ceremonies for the past ten years internationally. I am coming forward at this time, to use my healing gifts to facilitate ceremonies using the sacred medicine 'Cacahuaquahuit' (Cacao), enabling more people to experience its profound healing effect.
I feel deep gratitude for the ancient wisdom and knowledge which I have been privileged to receive from Master Shamans and gifted healers, from various indigenous cultures and traditions. These rural societies recognise that the key to health and happiness is a balance between spirit, mind, body and living in harmony with our environment.
I am amazed by the simplicity and depth of Cacao. It is a gentle
yet potent plant and should be used with reverence. It is a great honour to be able to serve this beautiful medicine."
CALEB JUDE PACKHAM
In his own words, Caleb's purpose in life is, to inspire and guide people towards living a happy, healthy and prosperous life.
Like many who find yoga, Caleb discovered the ancient practice following an injury, in 2014. It took just one class with Leila Sadeghee for him to know that yoga was to become a whole lot more than simply rehab for his foot. Following his recovery, he travelled to India to train as a Sattva Yoga Master, qualifying under world-renowned Yoga Master, Anand Mehrotra, at the Sattva Academy in Rishikesh.
Sattva (pronounced Satt*wa) is more than just a physical practice; it is a union of many different yogic paths. Asana, pranayama, kriya, meditation, mantra and free movement unite to create a transcendental experience known as a Sattva Yoga Journey.
Caleb now makes it his mission, as a yogi, to uplift people – and not just stereotypical yoga class attendees. Committed to making yoga more accessible to those who wouldn’t normally feel comfortable stepping into a yoga studio, he chooses to teach in unconventional spaces. You can find him sharing his practice across London, in venues like churches and warehouses – even pubs.
Successfully leading the charge in the men’s yoga revolution, Caleb is flipping the traditional female-heavy ratios to see men outnumber women in many of his classes. He is passionate about making yoga more accessible and appealing to men. It helps that a class with Caleb is far from run of the mill, with his yoga events set to live music proving hugely popular. His acclaim as a yoga teacher has also taken him overseas. In 2018, he joined the international teacher line-up at the Namaste Festival in Jakarta.
